OK, perhaps I didn't follow the rules-of-the-game articles close enough the past few weeks... the AFL is intrudicing a "deliberate rushed behind free kick rule"? Roos still confused about new rule
This is a joke! This game is turning into a technical shamble!
I'm an Essendon fan and I didn't like that we lost to Richmond by a kick with Bowden walking through rushed behinds in the dying minutes. But that's the game. Bowden used the rules to his advantage. Essendon knew the rules. Richmond clearly knew the rules. Why the heck are we always trying to perfect this game... what are we trying to turn it into?
In a few years, it'll end up being called Hot-Potato Football, cos no one will want the freaking ball anymore. You get punished for trying to get it when you dive onto it (a courageous act in my mind), you get punished for having it in the last line of defense if your best option is to rush a point (smart in my mind), and goodness knows what other rules they'll rush into the rule-book within the next few years...
Not happy Jan!
