Fantasy news on players from round 9.

Midfielder
Doughty came through big for Adelaide this week. He succeeded in shutting down Chris Judd, while also being quite effective himself. Doughty had 26 disposals, 5 marks and 6 tackles for a score of 125. This was his best score of the year, and his second 100+ in 09. Doughty is an effective fantasy player, but doesn't score highly enough consistently. Watch him, but don't make the move just yet.
Forward
After several quiet weeks, Porplyzia has now strung together two consecutive 100+ games. This week he had 14 disposals, 6 tackles and 2 goals for 110 points. If you need some forward help right now, then Porplyzia could be your man, but beware, he may have another quite period this year.
Defender
The Brisbane defender has had a good fantasy year so far, and this week impressed with 106 points. Adcock had 27 disposals, 10 marks and 6 tackles, but this was surprisingly just his second 100+ game for the year. It remains to be seen whether Adcock will be able to make that small step from serviceable to premium this year, but the signs are there.
Midfielder
Brennan is flourishing this year despite being thrown into many different roles due to injury. This week Brennan had 26 disposals, 7 marks, 5 tackles and 5 hitouts. In games past, he has been used as a forward, backup ruckman and defender. In spite of all that, he has managed to average 79 ppg, and continues to hold his fantasy value.
Defender
The Carlton defender has been stepping up of late, this week he had another 122 points, from 25 disposals and 6 marks. With Jarrad Waite possibly due for time on the injury list, Bower will be in a good position to continue his form. Bower is averaging 101 ppg over his last four matches.
Midfielder
Carlton rookie Mitch Robinson continued his inconsistent ways with just 31 points from 13 disposals, 3 marks and 3 tackles. Last week Robinson burst back into prominence with 100 points, but it's looking like that was more of an apparition. At best, Robinson should be considered a #7 midfielder, capable of good games but not reliable enough. If you can afford the trade, consider moving him on.
Midfielder
Davis continued his stellar fantasy form, with 176 points against the Eagles. Davis, who is averaging 136 ppg, dominated the game with 32 disposals, 10 marks and 3 goals. If you can afford him, make the move on a top 5 fantasy player.
Ruckman
Two games into his 09 season, Wood is starting to make a real fantasy impression. This week he had 98 points on the back of his 23 disposals, 9 marks and 9 hitouts. With Josh Fraser still probably not at 100%, and Cloke & Rocca out injured, Wood has found himself back in the seniors. On what he has shown, he'll likely stay in the team, so consider making the move if you need ruck help.
Midfielder
Rookie midfielder, Steele Sidebottom, again showed consistency in scoring 62 points. Sidebottom is averaging 64 ppg after three games, making him a decent pickup. It remains to be seen how long the Magpies stick with him, given that fellow youngsters Jaxson Barham, Dayne Beams and Brent Macaffer have since been dropped from the senior team.
Defender
Dempsey has certainly proved many critics wrong with his strong play this year. Against the Tigers Dempsey had 18 disposals, 3 marks and 4 tackles in his score of 103 points. While it was just his second score over 100 this year, Dempsey has still been one of the best fantasy stories of the year. He came into 2009 having played just 10 senior games, but so far has played every single match.
Forward
With Scott Lucas still languishing in the VFL, Neagle has had plenty of opportunities to impress up forward. However the tall forward hasn't shown enough, going goalless against the Tigers in his dismal score of 23. Avoid Neagle for now, as it appears unlikely that he'll be a fantasy force in 2009.
Midfielder
It wasn't a great fantasy day for most Dockers, with Hasleby the pick of the bunch. He had 26 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 goals in his 129 points. Hasleby, with his bad injury history, was a risky pre-season pick, but has become a great success story, averaging 90 ppg this year.
Forward
Des Headland made a successful return in his first game of the year, gathering 19 disposals, 5 marks and 4 tackles. He scored a respectable 74, but I'd prefer to see how he performs in the next few games before picking him up. He still remains one of the more risky picks, given his dreadful injury history.
Midfielder
First game back from injury, and Gary Ablett picked up where he left off. The champion midfielder had 38 disposals, 4 marks and 4 tackles, proving why he is the best fantasy player in the AFL.
Defender
The Cats are missing Darren Milburn, but that hasn't stopped Scarlett. The full-back had 27 disposals and 9 marks in his 107 points. He's had two games over 100 this year, but has the potential for many more. You could do worse.
Midfielder
Muston was very impressive on debut, gathering 31 disposals, 10 marks and kicking his first goal in AFL. Muston scored 127 points, and is shaping up as a player to watch. Err on the side of caution for now, as Garry Moss was in a similar position earlier in the season, but has since gone cold.
Forward
Franklin failed to capitalise on a great start to the game, finishing with 4 goals. His 112 points could easily have been over 150. Franklin is averaging 78 ppg, and with Hawthorn starting to fire up, is also shaping up as a more reliable fantasy option going forward.
Midfielder
Swallow put up his fourth 100+ game of the season, gathering 20 disposals and 7 tackles in his 113 points. Swallow has played every game this year and will please many owners who took the gamble on him early in the year. He's pleasantly emerged as one of the finds of the year.
Forward
Hale's bag of five goals this week helped him to a score of 105 points. He's not been the most consistent forward this year, only scoring big when he's able to kick more than two goals. He may not have great fantasy value unless there is injury to Hamish McIntosh or Drew Petrie, so avoid Hale for now.
Forward
Sylvia played his best game of the year, erupting for 37 disposals, 9 marks and 4 goals (which included 3 in a row during the third). Sylvia top scored with 153 points, just his second 100+ score for the year. Last season Sylvia was one of the most reliable fantasy players on the Demon's squad, but has fallen off somewhat in 09. Hopefully he'll be able to provide more reliability going forward.
Defender
One of the hottest pickups in recent weeks, Grimes fell of with just 58 points. His first two games had produced scores of 92 and 109, so fantasy owners will be a little disappointed with this week's results. Have patience, as Grimes will likely repay the gamble this week.
Midfielder
Hartlett impressed this week with 16 disposals and 4 marks, scoring a season best 85 points. He had been averaging 68 ppg leading into this game, and is emerging as one of the few rookies offering consistent scoring. He'll likely play a big part in the Power team for the rest of the year, so don't hesitate to pick him up.
Midfielder
If for some reason you hold Josh Carr, seriously consider making a move this week. In his first game back since being dropped, Carr had just 16 disposals and 5 marks. The Power expect much more production from the veteran, so it's not unforeseeable for Carr to be dropped again in the near future.
Midfielder
Tuck is on a roll at the moment, scoring 108 points against the Bombers. Tuck amassed 30 disposals, 4 marks and 4 tackles. He's averaging 94 ppg for the year. The Tiger midfield is cruising at the moment, with Tuck, Foley, Jackson and Collins all putting up enough points each week to justify selection.
Defender
Two games back from injury, and Raines continues to disappoint. The defender had just 13 disposals in his score of 38. Raines has a lot to prove this season, so show a bit of patience with him, but it's not looking great right now.
Midfielder
Ball broke out this week, with 26 disposals, 3 marks and 10 tackles in his score of 115. He'd previously gone 7 games scoring below 100. It may be a good time to pickup Ball, as his value may not get much lower.
Midfielder
After starting the season with a flyer, Nick Dal Santo has crashed to earth with two consecutive games below 100. This week a sterling tagging job by Cheynee Stiller held Dal Santo to just 67 points. Last year, Dal Santo proved a frustration as poor form wrecked his fantasy year. It's too early to jump off the bandwagon, but he's certainly being affected by the close tags.
Ruck
White was serviceable this week, scoring 64 points against the Power. He's playing backup to Darren Jolly this week, but owners will be happy to see him scoring well. He's not worth starting at the moment, but should Jolly go down injured, White is the best reserve ruckman on the Sydney list.
Midfielder
Kirk is averaging 108 ppg this year, and against the Power he shone with 32 disposals, 4 marks and 8 tackles. His score of 154 was his best effort of the year, his previous best of 149 came last week. Kirk is on fire right now.
Forward
Last week would have been a great time to pickup Giansiracusa. After stringing together seven games below 100, he broke out this week with 110 points. The forward had 21 disposals, 4 marks and 2 goals against the Cats. Giansiracusa is too good a player to continue playing poorly, so feel confident with him in your team.
Forward
Johnson may not be the goalkicker he once was, but he still offers enough to the fantasy competition. Against the Cats he had 26 disposals, 10 marks and 4 goals, scoring an impressive 127 points. It was just his second score over 100 this year.
Midfielder
On paper, Kerr's 26 disposals should have been enough for a decent score this week, but too many turnovers proved costly. Kerr only scored 23 points, bring his run to four games below 100. Kerr's season average of 78 ppg is not what fantasy owners expected of the star midfielder. Kerr still offers fantasy value, and could prove to be a great buy-low option in weeks to come.
Forward
As long as veteran Wirrpanda stays fit, he looks like he'll offer great fantasy value. This week he had 19 disposals, 3 tackles and kicked a goal in his 125 points. In four out of the seven games he's played this year, Wirrpanda has scored over 100 points. And that is more than enough to justify selection onto most fantasy teams.
